    IN CHARACTER

    Name: Sookie Stackhouse
    Fandom: True Blood
    Age: 25
    Point in Canon: 1.9
    Alignment: Heaven/Hell/Neutral. Neutral
Brief History: Ever since Sookie was little, she had a special ability. Sookie could hear people's thoughts. Their secrets. Their deepest, darkest desires. This, of course, made a lot of trouble for her. As a child, she knew her parents were terrified of her, of what she could do. They rarely spoke around her; but that made things worse. When people weren't talking vocally, she was able to hear their thoughts much easier. When she was six, she first heard them both think about taking her to the doctor. Fortunately, they loved her despite her terrifying ability, and didn't want to lose her.

When Sookie was seven, and her brother, Jason, was nine, their parents were killed in a flash flood. Sookie knew that Jason blamed himself - she often heard his thoughts late at night as he wished he could have been a better son, and then maybe their parents wouldn't have been on the bridge. She often tried to comfort him, but he wouldn't let her.  The two were raised by their father's mother, "Gran", after that. A few short months later, their Gran's brother was at the house, watching Sookie while Jason was off with his friends. The thoughts she picked up from him were terrifying, disgusting, even though she didn't, at that time, know what they meant. She told her Gran about it that night, and Uncle Bartlett was sent away from them. Jason never knew about it.

As the years went on, Sookie flourished as her Gran raised her. Despite the awful things she heard from people, her Gran raised her to be a proper young lady. When she was sixteen, Jason moved out and into their parents' home. Sookie stayed with their Gran. Time seemed to slow down in Bon Temps, almost stop, as Jason went on with his work, and Sookie began working as a waitress at Merlotte's Bar & Grill. Time stopped, that is, until one night a vampire named Bill walked into the bar, changing Sookie's life forever.

As she and Bill became closer, even consummating their relationship, people around her started dying. First, a local girl named Maudette. Then Dawn, one of the waitresses she worked with. Finally, her grandmother. Sookie began to grow more terrified as it began to become evident that she was being targeted, possibly because of her association with Bill. After Bill kills a vampire to save her life, he reveals to Sookie that he must leave to face the consequences. Sookie is left with her boss Sam as her protector, along with a dog (whom is Sam in another form, unbeknowest to her) she names Dean.

Third Person: As Dean settled at her feet, Sookie rolled onto her side and gazed at the window. She wanted to cry. She wanted to scream. But most of all, she just wanted to have Bill's cold form beside her, holding her against him. Her breath escaped in a small sigh as she thought back over the last 24 hours. Between what had happened at Fangtasia, and what had happened at Merlotte's, she was beyond drained. And we're not talking physically - because she was taking the vitamins Bill had recommended - no, we mean emotionally. She had seen more blood in the past few weeks than she had her entire life. She'd seen more horror, more pain, and felt the thoughts of people she never wanted to feel again.

Her eyes slid shut, but she didn't fall asleep right away.  Her mind still churned. Where was Bill? Where had Eric taken him? Who was that man who'd been with Eric and Pam? And did Eric know who killed the vampires the other day? Sookie had a pretty good idea, but even she didn't want to see more people killed. Bill had promised he would come back, but the look in Eric's eyes told her that was doubtful. What would she do without him? Sure, she knew how to fight - some - and she had Sam looking out for her . . . but neither of them could compare to a vampire. He had strength they didn't. He had speed, and cunning . . . but she was mad at him. Hell, that didn't matter now, did it? Bill was gone.

First Person (Comm Post Style): I have to be dreaming. That's it, right? I'm still in Bill's house, in his bed, with Dean asleep by my feet. I mean, honestly, how is it that I could be anywhere else? Maybe this is a trick. Jason? You did something here, didn't you. You somehow came into his house and took me somewhere else. But I'm usually a light sleeper. My stars, how is it I'm in a different place? Things are so strange here. It's not as hot as it was, so it can't be Bon Temps. I don't smell the marsh, or feel as many insects as before. This is definitely not Renard Parish. I might even be in Louisiana anymore.

Wait a second. That paper. It says...how could I be in Kansas? That can't be right. Bill, are you here? Did you bring me? I'm a little frightened. I need you, Bill, please. Does anyone have a phone? Maybe I can call Tara. She'd come get me. Or Lafayette. Something very weird is going on around here . . .
